Au Train Campground
Au Train lake Campground is located in Alger County, about 10 miles west of Munising. At Au Train, travel south on Forest Road H03 for four miles, then go one mile east on Forest Road 2276, and then two miles north on Forest Road 2596 to the campground.
Au Train Lake is the largest inland lake in the area. It is an 830-acre lake with a maximum depth of 30 ft. and an average depth of 12 ft. The large size of this lake provides miles of prime water skiing, boating, swimming, and fishing. Canoeing and kayaking is also popular here on both Au Train Lake and the Au Train River below the lake.
Camping
This campground has 37 large, wooded, campsites with tables and fireplaces. Drinking water and toilets are conveniently spaced throughout the campground.
Picnic Grounds
There are tables, grills, toilets, and drinking water. Enjoy this lovely area while you picnic, swim, boat, fish, or just relax.
Swimming
The sandy swimming beach is located at the picnic area. A change house is located nearby. Please remember there are no lifeguards, so swimming is at your own risk.
Fishing
Fishing is good for northern pike, walleye, bluegill, bullhead and yellow perch.
Boating
The boat launch is at the parking area. There is turning and parking space for vehicles with boat trailers. Boat rentals are available in Au Train. Lake Superior boat launch is located on Au Train Bay.
General Information
Bait, camping supplies, fuel and food, are available in the village of Au Train. Au Train Lake Campground is a fee area. Camp Stamps and the Golden Age Passport are acceptable.
